Annual Report
Message from the Chairman
Over the past year, we’ve made great strides forward in achieving our strategic objectives.
Following a robust selection process, we were pleased to appoint Providence Wealth as our investment fund manager to help us achieve sustainable returns and ultimately better social outcomes. We also created an Investment Steering Committee, which meets monthly, to discuss the foundation’s funds under management and ensure that our objectives are being met.
It was an honour when the foundation’s state-of-the-art properties in Bangor won the Special Purpose Housing Category at the 2023 Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Housing Awards in September. The award is testament to the new standard for disability accommodation that the properties set for the state.
Sylvanvale Foundation’s project to redevelop our Gerald Road site for the purpose of delivering new disability housing options in the Sutherland Shire continues to move forward.
We continue to enhance our existing disability accommodation offerings through upgrades and improvements. As part of this, we completed successful renovations at two properties in Menai which resulted in overwhelmingly positive feedback from residents and their families.
The foundation remains committed to inclusive sport, and the connections and other benefits it brings to all the players and the community at large. We are pleased to now be sponsoring mixed ability rugby team, the Powerful Owls, in addition to the Titans Football Club.
We’re also happy to be sponsors of SGS News, which is a free weekly email newsletter sharing information from the St George and Sutherland Shire human services networks.
My sincere thanks to Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO KC, Governor of New South Wales, for her continuing support as Vice Regal Patron of Sylvanvale. I am grateful also to my fellow directors and all those individuals who have helped us to make such strong headway this year.
