Annual Report

Message from the Chairman

This past year, we have continued the path of ensuring Sylvanvale Foundation will be sustainable into the future.

A crucial component to our ongoing success is making sure we are supported by the right professional investment management organisation. This will ensure we can continue to achieve our purpose of creating long-term outcomes and impacts in the lives of people living with disability by sustaining and optimising assets. To this end, we recently implemented a rigorous assessment process, with assistance from the Barrington Group, to select our new investment manager. I would particularly like to acknowledge Richard Kornman, a seasoned executive who volunteered his time to assist us to achieve this important outcome.

Sylvanvale Foundation has been working hard to address the high demand for good quality housing for people with disability. We’re committed to ensuring people with disability can access quality, contemporary housing where they choose to live. We’ve made strong progress on our project to rezone and subdivide Mikarie Place, the proceeds of which will be used to build further Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), like at our recently completed properties in Bangor.

We are also currently working on the redevelopment of land at existing Sylvanvale Foundation sites in Illawong. This exciting project will result in new homes for residents with diverse support needs living together.

Meanwhile, our new Bangor properties have continued to attract wide attention. The sites are currently being considered as a nominee for the ‘Special Purpose Housing’ category at the 2023 Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Housing Awards. As the state’s most prestigious residential building awards, it is a great honour for our project to have been recognised in this regard.

It has been proven repeatedly how important it is to support individuals to feel connected and included within the community. Sylvanvale Foundation was pleased to sponsor the Titans Football Club and the ShireABILITY Art Awards this year, which bring people together through sport and art.

My enormous thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on the Foundation’s many initiatives throughout the year. I’m thankful also to Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO KC, Governor of New South Wales, for her continuing support as Vice Regal Patron of Sylvanvale.
